The Phakalane Data Centre was built in 2008 and was designed to comply with the Telecommunications Industry Associations TIA-942 (ANSI/TIA 942-A-1). Our objective was to deliver the best in Hosting and Disaster Recovery Services. Our core solution includes a Managed Disaster Recovery environment with optional Back-Up as a Service, storage as a Service Soon infrastructure as a Service. Currently the PDC occupies 80 square meters of space. A project is currently underway to create a second separate Data Centre (80 square meters of space) in the same building so that we can offer Data Centre level redundancy. Phakalane Data Centre follows ITIL (ISO 2000) and all our technical support personnel have successfully completed this training.

- All Clients and Contractors (Power, Air Conditioners, Fire Extinguishers and Network Cabling) are chaperoned during scheduled activities in the Data Centre
Design
The design, construction and scalability of the Data Centre makes it one of the most modern and secure in Gaborone We have used the best practises and guidelines to ensure that all aspects of its construction of the building and the Data Centre are the best available examples of this being the physical construction, dual large Diesel Generator capacities (approximately 48 running hours before refuelling is required). An additional 1000 litres are stored in on premises storage tanks. Dual large underfloor cooling Air-Conditioners and dual large UPS equipment installed. We also have approximately 100 square meters of dedicated office space above the Data Centre where network access points, desks and air-conditioned offices are available to customers in the event of a Disaster Recovery Process.
The Phakalane Data Centre was designed and implemented from scratch in a purpose-built concrete shell with a single point of access Phakalane Data Centre used TIA-942 as a basis for the site space and layout, cabling infrastructure, tiered reliability and environmental considerations. The facility is currently operating at near to Tier 4 complying with TIA-942 Tier 4 i.e., 2 (N+1). Dual power facilities are not available in Botswana as Botswana Power Corporation are the only Power provider in Botswana. This will deliver the 99.995% uptime.
